I bought the Sennheiser HD595s and these compare much better. Although the comfort in the Sennheishers is much better, the sound quality of the Audio Technicas is much better. Also these were around $20 cheaper. The bass is a lot more pronounced but not over powering.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:

These headphones are amazing and paired with an effective amplifier they are unbeatable! The only drawback is if your looking for over powering base you'll need an effective eq, otherwise I would suggest these to anybody looking for a good pair of headphones.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:

I really like these headphones. Much better sounding than the Bose QCs I have for much less money. I highly recommend them. You can't go wrong for the money, period.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:

One year down the line and these headphones are still going strong. The ear pads are starting to crack a little, but that is with very heavy use - and no big deal as they are replaceable. Buy These!, December 1, 2011

After a lot of searching for headphones, I settled on these. Not only do they look good, but they have have all the intangibles for today's youth and their music preferences. The bass is very good for dubstep, even without an EQ. Mids are hit and miss, but for an non-audiophile, you're not really going to notice. Vocal range is decent as well. I've listened to a wide range of music, from classical to rock to dubstep and you'll hear the music as intended, with every nuance included in the track.
Sound leaking isn't that much of an issue and once these babies are on and the music is playing, you can get lost in the sound.
They fold up nicely, the curled cord is a must-have, the straight version is just too long. You also get two jacks, which is nice.
Only thing that could be a problem is the small jack does not fit properly to an iPhone with a cover. If the cover is off, it's a snug fit and works fine.
I am by no means a professional reviewer, but I do appreciate products that perform well, and for the price, these things are an excellent value and very hard to beat. They look street enough and hit the bass hard, so, if you are a parent considering a pair of headphones for your son (or daughter) give these a serious look, both of you will not be disappointed.

This is my first set of mid quality headphones, so take my review with a grain of salt, as I don't have any other cans to compare them to.As if there needed to be another glowing 5-star review for these headphones...It's all been said before. They are awesome headphones, plain and simple. The sounds are very clear and there is nice seperation of instruments. It's almost like I'm listening to some songs for the first time. Listening to them through lower grade headphones, the sounds sometimes run together and you don't get the full effect of everything the song has to offer. However, with these, I can hear each element distinctly and it makes the whole experience much much better. Vocals normally run into the melody of the tracks, but with these, they are nice and distinct, and almost highlighted, but without being emphasized, if that makes any sense.
My wife tried the cans out as well and she was equally impressed. She said "It's like you're IN the music". It's tough to express the impact on the sound good cans have, but it is a great one!
The only issue I have with them is that the bass is a little bit loose. However, with a good amp that will be fixed right up. I'm using the FiiO E7 and it makes it nice and tight.
Overall a great set of cans. Highly recommended to anyone

I never review my Amazon purchases, but these are so good that I had to this time around.I bought these when they were $159 after researching Beats and a few other Audio-Technica headphone models, but I was swayed by the ATH-M50s' stellar reviews and 4.8-star score. I've been using these for about three or four weeks and they are pretty much perfect. I'm not an audiophile or musician, but a college student who wanted high-quality headphones that would last a long time, and I'm glad I bought these because they seem like they can stand a little abuse, are stylish, and more unique than other headphone brands that half the New Yorkers I see use nowadays. I've worn these in the rain and they started to make an odd noise after an hour or so, but they were fine after I took them off, dried them, and stored them in my bag. I wear these around my neck when I shouldn't listen to music because they're great as a kind of fashion accessory too. I kind of hope that these headphones don't explode in popularity as Beats have, but I also kind of do because people should listen to music the way it was meant to be heard, not with amped-up bass and mediocre everything else!
JUST AMAZING! OR AS I WOULD CALL THEM, (BEATS BY DRE KILLERS!), November 28, 2011
